For the purposes of the Climate Calculator, the emission factor for electric cars is given as 0g CO2/km as the car is assumed not to generate any emissions for calculation purposes. The majority of the emissions generated by electric cars arise during the production of the electricity used to charge them. These emissions have already been factored in under electricity consumption.
A passenger-kilometre (pkm) is a unit of measurement used to describe the passenger capacity of a vehicle, such as a taxi or a bus. Passenger-kilometres are calculated by multiplying the distance travelled by the number of passengers carried. For example, a distance of 100 kilometres travelled by three people amounts to 300 passenger-kilometres. Passenger-kilometres shoud be considered especially when using carpools.
In this section, enter the total number of passenger-kilometres travelled by staff and select the distribution between different modes of transport using the columns. The figures already provided reflect the Helsinki area average.
